That was amazing. Think we may have found a solution to my phobias after all those years! Thank you! Shame it wasn’t available many years ago and would have given me a decent set of teeth now. Anyway have to look forwards not backwards!Anthony
Inhalation Sedation: ‘happy air’
Relax…there truly is no need for concern. Don’t let your nerves get in the way of the smile that you want.
We are not all alike, but we all have fears. We understand that everyone has their own comfort zone, and that there may be treatments you need or would like, but just feel would be too much to cope with ordinarily.
Inhalation Sedation is a comfortable, rewarding technique that we can use to help you achieve a state of relaxation and allow you to better cope with whatever treatment you might choose.
It can also work very well for those, who might not be particularly nervous, but struggle with a gag reflex.
At Dentist on The Green we are now happy to offer inhalation sedation, or ‘happy air’!
What is Inhalation Sedation?
Inhalation sedation is a light form of sedation. It is a mix of nitrous oxide and oxygen, breathed in through a nosepiece. It will help you feel relaxed, content and more at ease with having treatment.
Inhalation sedation, or as we like to call it: ‘happy air’, is a type of relative analgesia (or RA), it is not general anaesthesia.
It is extremely safe, works well on adults and children alike, takes minutes to work and you will be awake and conscious throughout, better allowing you to fit the dental treatment you need into your busy routine.
How it helps
Whilst breathing ‘happy air’, you can feel:
- Laid back
- Drowsy, but not asleep
- A slight tingling sensation in your hands or feet
What happens afterwards?
Unlike other forms of sedation and general anaesthesia, it only takes a short while to recover from, so you will usually be able to walk, drive or cycle home or to work as normal, without taking the rest of the day off.
